Lagavulin Distillery

Located on the southern coast of Islay, Lagavulin Distillery is synonymous with the rich peaty whiskies that define the Islay style. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin is celebrated for its deep, smoky flavours, derived from a long fermentation process and slow distillation, followed by maturation in oak casks.

The distillery's flagship 16-year-old expression is a benchmark of Islay single malts, revered for its complex balance of smoke, maritime saltiness, and underlying sweetness. Lagavulin's meticulous production process, including the use of pear-shaped pot stills and an extended maturation period, ensures that each dram is imbued with the distillery's signature intensity and depth of flavour. A visit to Lagavulin offers an immersive experience into the heart of Islay's whisky heritage, showcasing the craftsmanship and tradition that have made it a legend among Scotch whiskies.
