QUINTA DO INFANTADO 10YO TAWNY PORT

Quinta do Infantado has been owned by the Roseira family for over a century. In 1979, it became the first Port producer to bottle its wines at the estate in the Douro, rather than in Porto's Vila Nova de Gaia. The name ‘Infantado’ originates from ‘Infante’, Portuguese for ‘heir to the throne’, reflecting the estate's royal history. The winery was initially established in 1816 by the Portuguese royal family as a place to collect taxes in the form of grapes and wine from local growers. Today, João Roseira manages the vineyards and oversees winemaking.

The estate spans 46 hectares in Covas do Douro, within the Cima Corgo region, located on the north bank of the Douro River, 4 kilometres from Pinhão. All of Quinta do Infantado's vineyards are classified as A-grade due to their prime location and range in elevation from 150 to 350 metres. The grapes, sourced from old-vine parcels up to 100 years old, produce small yields of highly concentrated fruit, ideal for Port production. Grapes for their Douro Tinto are sourced from the estate’s highest vineyards and have been crushed using robotic lagares since 2010.
