FERREIRA DONA ANTONIA 10YO WHITE PORT
Ferreira's flagship vineyard is the 27-hectare Quinta do Porto. Founded in 1771 and acquired by Dona AntΓ³nia in 1863, this vineyard is located on the north bank of the Douro River, just downstream from the village of PinhΓ£o, and directly opposite Sandeman's Quinta do Seixo on the south bank. The warmer mesoclimate, a result of the south/south-west facing terraced vineyards and the vineyardβs proximity to the river, produces Ports known for their lush ripeness, exceptional concentration, and perfect balance. The vineyardβs old vines, which winemaker LuΓs Sottomayor describes as "beyond retirement age," yield small quantities of intensely flavoured grapes that form the core of many of Ferreira's finest Ports. The entire estate is dry-farmed using sustainable practices, and all harvesting is done by hand.
Tasting Notes
Amber in colour, this wine offers intense aromas of dried citrus peel, nuts, caramel, and baking spices. On the palate, it strikes a perfect balance between boldness and elegance, with a crisp acidity that complements the sweetness and carries the intense, evolved flavours through to a long, lingering finish.
